Welcome to the legislation.gov.uk community editorial wiki. It's where you can find editorial documentation and guidance and where you can share your knowledge and experiences to help others. Contributing is easy - have a go! Adding examples of the more unusual or challenging editorial tasks, and how you've solved them, for example, will really bring pages to life and make them a useful tool for others.
Using the Wiki
You can browse the wiki's four main sections, set out below, or you can use the wiki search to find the specific information you're looking for:
Introduction to Revising Legislation If you are a new editor, have recently joined us to help update legislation, or are simply interested in how we produce the revised content on legislation.gov.uk then this section will give you a good overview of our processes.
Editorial Principles This section sets out the core principles of our editorial process. It's useful if you are a new editor, or if you're helping us to update legislation and want to understand the high level principles before you start doing the more detailed update work.
Preparation Tasks This section is mostly for our in-house editorial team who carry out the preparation tasks needed before legislation can be updated. This section covers the 'identify effects' and 'record effects' work that the team does.
Editorial Update This section is useful for all editors, including those of you who have recently joined us to help update legislation. It is where you will find out how to carry out all of the different update tasks.
Contributing
Anyone can read the wiki, but we'd also like you to contribute. To do this you will need a login account, which you can request from [[1]Judith]. We've produced a style guide to show you how to add content in a consistent way. It also includes useful guidance on html tagging if you want to include additional information such as tables and images.
